Abstract |
The fig wax scale insect, Ceroplastes rusci (Linnaeus) (Homoptera: Coccidae) is considered the most serious soft scale insect attacking different economic host plants of the world including Egypt. A survey of host plants, distribution and natural enemies was carried out allover Egypt during 2005-2006, Seasonal abundance of the fig wax scale insect, C. rusci and its natural enemies was studied on citrus sp. in Sharqiya Governorate during 2005 to 2006. The results -indicated that C. rusci attacks 17 host plants belonging to 13 families distributed in 16 localities from 12 governorates in Egypt and associated with 5 parasitoids: and 5 predators. The insect population; eggs, nymphs, and adults} showed two peaks the first from the beginning of February and the second during October, in the first and second years.„ The results showed that, C. rusci occurs all year round on citrus. The parasitoid, Tetrasticus sp. and the predator , Exochomus ,flavipes Thunb. are the most important natural enemies attacking this pest
