Abstract Laboratory and field studies were conducted to evaluate the acute oral and contact toxicity as well as the residual activity of nine pesticides against honeybee workers. Data obtained could be summarized as follow: Acute contact and oral toxicity¬ According to toxicity data and calculated hazard quotient (HQ, the tested pesticides could be divided into four groups as follow: -The highly toxic group, that includes chlorpyrifos, alpha-cypermethrin and thiodicarb with (HQ) of 20000, 13750 and 3504.76, respectively. -The moderately toxic group, which includes abamectin with (OH) 1400. -The slightly toxic group, including dicafol + tetradifon and fenpyroximate with (HQ) 143.41 and 142.86, respectively. -The non toxic group that includes tetrazin, Geropon +fanesol with nerolidol + Geraniol and Sulfer (F.) 52%. The residual activity: -The initial mortality of chlorpyrifos, alpha-cyperznethrin, thiodicarb and abamectin recorded 100.0, 95.0, 94.9 and 70.5%, respectively. Their respective residual activity lasted for 12, 9, 8, and 3 days after application. The other compounds proved to be safe to honeybee.
