English : IGR-Translaminar activity against sweetpotato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) on cotton plant
Arabic : النشاط الجهازي لمنظمات النمو الحشرية ضد الذبابة البيضاء على القطن
Abstract Translaminar activity of nine insect growth regulators : diflubenzuron, triflumuron, hexaflumuron, chlorfluazuron, lufenuron, flufenoxuron, methoxyfenozid, tebufenozide, fenoxycarb and pyriproxyfen were studied against the sweetpotato whitefly Bemisia tabaci adults and eggs on cotton plants, under laboratory conditions. Data revealed that, the translaminar activity of the tested IGRs on cotton seedlings was much higher against adults than that against eggs, and that fenoxycarb, tebufenozide and chlorfluazuron exhibited the highest translaminar activity against adults (82.3-72.3 %). Comparison based on toxicity index, data demonstrate the superiority of triflumuron (100), whereas pyriproxyfen revealed the lowest activity against adults (2.6); the other tested compounds occupied an intermediate category. On the other hand, all IGRs tested revealed extremely poor translaminar activity against B. tabaci eggs ranged between '22.6 % for pyriproxyfen and 8.39 % for Fenoxycarb. Based on toxicity index, chlorfluazuron showed the highest toxicity (100) and was followed by hexaflumuron (63.3) and triflumuron (58.8). The toxicity index for the other tested compounds ranged between 3.92-41.42.
