English : The effect of some plant extracts in the controlling of the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera Littorails (BOISD)

Abstract Results revealed that 2nd and 4th instars larvae 6f S. littoralis were treated at different botanical extracts of Buxus chinensis and Amaranfhus viridis . Buxus chinensis was the most toxic as botanical pesticides against 2nd and 4th instars larvae of S. littoralis. !t caused considerably high percentage of mortality, while those of B. chinensis and A. viridis were slight effective against 2nd and 4th instars larvae of S. littoralis.. Generally extracts of ethanol Buxus chinensis leaves was more effective than other botanical extracts, in causing larval and pupal mortality and larval, pupal and adult duration. These extracts also reduced fecundity and fertility of females and that survived from 2nd and 4th larval instar of S. littoralis who fed on castor oil leaves treated with Buxus chinensis and Amaranthus viridis leaves extracts respectively.
