English : The biochemical effects of zinc phosphide and oshar crude plant extract on the egyptian weasel.
Arabic : التأثيرات البيوكيميائية لفوسفيد الزنك ومستخلص نبات العشار على العرسة المصرية
Abstract Effect of zinc phosphide and Oshar crude plant extract Calotropis procera were studied on some biochemical aspects of Egyptian weasel, Mustela nivalis subpalmata. Results showed that LDso was 29.0 and 46.9 mg / kg b.w for zinc phosphide and Oshar, respectively. Oral administration of sub-lethal dose ('/,LDSO) of both compounds induced a markedly reduction in peroxidase and catalase enzymes activity in liver and kidney tissues when measured at 6,12 and 24 hours after administration. Also, the same dose of both compounds induced a noticeable dysfunction in AST, ALT enzymes and total protein profile as they increased in plasma and decreased in liver and kidney tissues after treatment. Generally, zinc phosphide was more toxic than Oshar to weasels and exhibited a higher effect on the tested enzyme system.
