| Abstract |
This study aimed to determine the knowledge level of extensionists related to the organic agriculture, to study of relationship between knowledge level of the extensionists related to the organic agriculture and some independent variables, to recognize the problems that face the extensionists in obtaining the related information about organic agriculture, to suggest to overcome these problems, and finally to obtain information about sources of their information about organic agriculture.
This study was conducted in Menia, Sohag and Behira governorates where three districts are chosen from each governorate of the study, a random sample was drawn of 276 extensionist, and the data have been collected from it during September and October months in 2006 by interview inquiry form has been prepared before and it was assured that it is valid. Tables with frequencies, percentage, arithmetic mean, weight mean, standard deviation in addition to Chi square, were used in analyzing the obtained data.
The main findings of the study can be summarized as the following : About 56.2% of the extensionists of low and mediated level of knowledges about the organic agriculture and this reflects high degree of training need in the field of organic agriculture. The study showed presence of significant relationship between the knowledge level of the extensionists related to the organic agriculture and the scholar qualification, the specification of the qualification, period of the extension work, and the degree of exposure to the source of information. The most important problems that faced the extensionists in obtaining the information related to the organic agriculture were shortage of both of financial inducements, and legalizations that regulate the organic agriculture, information about the biologic fertilizers, information about marketing of organic products The most important extensionists information about the organic agriculture are: extensional publication, agricultural magazines, television, and workmates. The study recommended that: entrance of the organic agriculture style among extensional programs, and encourage of agricultural extensionists to attend conferences of organic agriculture, providing extensionists publications about the organic agriculture, regulation training courses for the agricultural extensionists, providing specialists for the organic agriculture, supporting of the organic agriculture, and preparation of the legalizations that regulate the organic agriculture in Egypt.
