| Abstract |
The effect of some agricultural practicesviz sowing date and nitrogen fertilization levels on the infestation of cotton with the Aphid Aphis gossypii (Glov) was studied at Elhosinia center Sharkia Governorate for two successive growing seasons (2005 and 2006) Results obtained could be summarized as follows:¬
1-Sowing date proved to have a significant effect on cotton infestation by Aphis gossypii where the earlier cultivations less infested than the late one.
2-Pest population density was significatnly increased with increasing nitrogen fertilization leveia during -both seasons. The highest level of cotton infestation by this pest was observed when plants were fertilized with 120 kg N/fed.
3-Cotton sown on `Aprile, Is' and fertilized with 120kg N/Fed. Harboured the highest mean numbers of insect aphid through each season.
