Abstract Laboratory and field evaluations of the use of a feeding stimulant with insecticides and the bacterial entomopathogens on major economic lepidopterous pests, in cotton and soybean fields, were studied at Sakha Research Station, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate during the season 2003. The feeding stimulant (Bioenhancer) was used alone and in combination with chemical or bioinsecticides against the defoliating pests (Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) and Spodoptera exigua Hbn., in cotton and soybean fields) and the bollworms (Pectinophora gossypiella Saunders and Earias insulana Boisd., in cotton fields). In addition, a study of the adverse influence on the natural enemies associated with these pests in the two fields was undertaken. Laboratory results indicated that a high degree of efficiency against S. littoralis, P. gossypiella and E. insulana larvae was exhibited by the chemical insecticides or the bioinsecticides when combined with the feed stimulant. But no obvious effect was found when the feed stimulant was used alone. Field results confirmed the laboratory data, where the use of the chemical and bioinsecticides resulted in significant reduction in levels of the defoliators and the bollworms in both cotton and soybean fields compared with the untreated plots. Also, the addition of the insect feeding stimulant (Bioenhancer 5%) to the chemical or bioinsecticides provided a significant effect on the defoliators and the bollworms mortality as compared to the use of the chemical and bioinsecticides alone. Moreover, the results showed that both the Bioenhancer and bio-insecticides had the least harmful effect on the predators' populations.
