| Abstract |
Field studies conducted during cotton growing season of 1998 at, Etaia El-Barood District in Beheira Governorate, to detect the adult population of the pink bollworm, Pectinophera gossypiella and spiny bollworm, Earias insulana using funnel pheromone traps. Field generation numbers, life table parameters for field, thermal requirements and heat unit's accumulation was used. Pectinophera gossypiella showed 4 generations and 4 peaks in cotton, Earias insulana was found to have 7 generation a year. Generations occurred at an average of 410 ±72.1 and 374 ±22.75 DD's for pink bollworm and spiny bollworm respectively. The lower thresholds were 12.6 and 11.6 oC for the two insect pests respectively.
