| Abstract |
The main objectives of the study were to :
Determine the level of adoption of strawberry farmers to the new agricultural techniques, and also studying the relationship between the level of the adoption of those fanners to the new agricultural techniques and some personal, social , agricultural, communication factores. In addition to the determination of the information sources which the. farmers depended on getting their information about the new agricultural techniques for the strawberry crop. Also identify the extension services which the extension agriculture presented to the strawberry farmers, and identify the problems of adoption of strawberry farmers to the new agricultural techniques .
Data were collected from random sample of 150 respondents from Ismalia and Qalyoubia Governorates by personal interviews using pretested questionnaire during August, 2003. Data were tabulated, processed, analyzed by using chi square, contingency coefficient, means , .standard Deviation, arithmetic mean, coefficient variance, in addition to frequencies, percentages. The results of this study revealed (hat:
About 43.33% of respondents , their adoption to the modern agricultural techniques are low, 32.67% are moderate, while 24% are high.
There was an effective relation tit the level of 0.01 between the level of adoption of the strawberry farmers to the new agricultural techniques , age , the general degree of awareness , the degree of attitude to risk, the degree oj leadership behaviour, farm holding size, the number of experience years in growing strawberry, the degree of the exposure to mass media, the degree of contact with change agents , the degree of frequency to the agricultural service centres, the degree of participation in extension activities, the number of information sources.
The most important sources of information that strawberry farmers depend on getting their information about the new agricultural techniques were: the director of agricultural society, T.V. agricultural programes , the extension guide, friends & neighbours.
Concerning the problems in adoption of strawberry farmers to the new techniques were: increase the prices of the new varieties seedlings, the difficulty on getting the cold seedling , increase the prices of collection containers, increase the prices of the plastic needed for the covering the lines .
