Abstract |
The main objectives of this research were to identify training needs of Agricultural Extension Agents related to honeybee production recommendations, to determine the relationship between these needs and the studied independent variables, and to recognize the most important problems hindering honeybee production from the respondents' point of view.
Data were collected in April 2006 from a systematic random sample of 120 interviewees represents 68.6 % of the population. Simple correlation, step-wise correlation and regression, Chi-square, and contingency coefficient were used to analyze data statistically, in addition to frequencies and percentages.
Results revealed that:
- Out of 24 knowledge training needs, 6 items were needed by a high
percentage ratio of respondents, 10 items were needed by a moderate ratio, and 8 items were needed by low percentage ratio of respondents.
- Data showed that a moderate ratio of respondents (45 %) had a
moderate knowledge need regarding recommendation of honeybee production, 34.2 % had a high knowledge need, and 20.8 % had a low knowledge need.
- A significant simple correlation on 0.01 level between the degree of
respondents' knowledge training needs and each of; period of agricultural work, degree of job satisfaction, number of training courses, and degree of cosmopolitans.
The step-wise multiple correlation and regression indicated that there were two independent variables significantly affect the respondents' knowledge training needs (23.4 %) which were degree of: cosmopolitness and period of Agricultural work.
- A significant relationship on 0.01 level by Chi-square were found
between the dependent variable and each of: educational level and work-home distance.
- Respondents mentioned 9 problems hindering honeybee production
with ratio ranged between 94.2 % - 35.8 %, 4 recommendation were
developed to enhance extension work for improving honeybee
production.
