Agricultural extension activities carried by Agricultural Engineers of Tahreer Agricultural cooperatives Beheira Governorate for increasing Mango farmers knowledge againsit pre and post-harvest crop recommendations

| Abstract |
The study aimed to recognize agricultural extension activities carried out by agricultural engineers regarding Mango crop pre and post-harvest recommendations and the most important problems face them.
Data were collected from a random sample of 140 respondents by a personal interview questionnaire in November and December 2005.
Mean, weighted mean, frequencies and percentage were used to present and analyze the data.
The main results of this study showed that:-
- The majority of respondents were of moderate education and
the rest were of high education level but not specialized in horticultural science.
- 25 agricultural extension activities related to mango crop pre-
harvest stage were carried out in the area with a percentage ranged between 81.00 % and 26.5 %.
- 16 agricultural extension activities concerning mango crop post-harvest stage with a low ratio except the activity of informing farmers about fruit maturity indicators.
- No focusing on vital activities related to consumer health or except requirements.
- 12 problems were found facing the respondents, the most important problems were: carrying extra administrative tasks besides the extension activities, and lack of agricultural pamphlets and magazines.
According the study results, 5 recommendations were deucted to enhance performance and effectiveness of the extension work in the studied area.
