English : Laying and reproductive performance of Fayoumi hens as affected by probiotic supplementation
Arabic : تأثير اضافة مركبات البروبيوتك على الاداء الانتاجى و التناسلى للدجاج الفيومى
Abstract This study was designed to evaluate the effect of active dried yeast or a commercial probiotic preparation containing a combination of bacteria and yeast on laying and reproductive performance of Fayoumi hens. A total number of 120 Fayoumi hens and 2 Fayoumi cocks, 40 weeks of age were reared under the same managerial conditions in open-sided house on floor. The birds were randomly distributed into 4 groups of 30 hens and 6 cocks each and then subdivided into two replicates (15 hens +3 cocks/replicate). Four experimental diets were used in this study as follows: 1) Basal diet (Table 1 shows its composition and its chemical analysis) 2) Basal diet supplied with active dried yeast at 1g/kg diet 3) Basal diet supplied with active dried yeast at 29 /kg diet 4)Basal diet supplied with a commercial probiotic preparation (Acidway) at 1g/kg diet. The addition of active dried yeast at 1g/kg diet gave the best(p<0.05) laying rate, egg mass and feed conversion, shell weight, shell percentage and the best(P>0.05) shell thickness values. The daily amount of feed consumed was not affected by any of the treatments. The addition of active dried yeast, especially at 1g/kg diet, gave the best (P<0.05) digestion coefficients of DM, OM, EE, CP and nitrogen balance when compared to the other groups. Fertility, embryonic mortality and hatchability were not significantly (p<0.05)different between treatments. However. the addition of active dried yeast at 1g/kg diet gave the best (P<0.05)chick hatching weight. Under the conditions of this experiment, the active dried yeast at 1g /kg diet had a positive effects on laying hen performance, shell quality and digestion coefficients of the nutrients, but it had no effect on hatching traits.
