Abstract Study aimed mainly to determine performance degree of extension role by agricultural extension agents to improve the production of sugar beet and maize crops, also to identify the correlated and affected variables regarding its relationship with the dependent variables under study, in addition to identify the respondents' suggestions for improving the production of two studied crops. Data were collected during april 2006 by using personal interviews questionnaire from a random sample amounting 176 agricultural extension agents whom were shosen randomly from three districts which were desouk, kallen, and Beyalla at Kafr El-Sheikh governorate. Frequancies, Percentages, Arithmatic mean standard deviation, simple correlation coefficient, partial regression coefficient, and multiple correlation and regression analysis (step-wise) were used to analyze data statistically. The main results of the study revealed that: First: Concerning improving the production of maize crop the results showed that nearly 28%, 46%, and nearly 26% of the respondents their degree of performance extension role were low, moderate and high gradually. The results also indicated that there were positive and significant correlation relation ship between the performance degree of extension role in this field as dependent variable and both extension training, degree of benefit from extension training, degree of achievement motivation. Degree of work elasticity, degree of job satisfaction, numerous of information sources, and number of work years with agricultural extension. The independent variance of dependent variable, only three independent variables combined were explained 27i% % from this variastion i.e. degree of benefit from extension training (19.9%), degree of formality in work (3.7%), and degree of work elasticity (3.5%). Second: Concerning improving the production of sugar beet crop the results indicated that the degree of extension role performance of 23.9%, 53.4% and 22.7% of agricultural extension agents in this field were low, moderate, and high gradually. The results also pointed that there were positive and significant correlation relationship between the degree of extension role performed by agricultural extension agents in this field as dependent variable and both: age, degree of benefit from extension training, degree of achievement motivation, degree of work elasticity, job satisfaction and numerous of information sources. Independent variables under study combined were explained 29.3% from the variance of this dependent variable. Three independent variables affecting significantly and explained together 24.5% from this variation i.e. degree of benefit from extension training (19%), numerous of information sources (3.5%), and degree of work formality (2%). Third: Respondents mentioned 14 suggestions to improve with production of maize crop, by percentages ranged from 74.4% to 7.95% of them the main suggestions were: follow technical recommendations of crop, availability of certified seeds sufficiently, stoppage of cut and remove stem terminal and leaves, implementation of extension fields in villages cultqoted with maize crop, and providing of bulletins of maize crop. Forth: Respondents mentioned 16 suggestions to improve with production of sugar beet crop by percentages ranged from 81.25% to 10.23% of them the main suggestions were: following of technical recommendations of sugar but crip providing and availability of information about atribules recommended by factory, rapid transport of sugar beet crop to factory after harvesting directly, and stop irrigation before harvesting with sufficient time, and early cultivation.
