| Abstract |
Agriculture is. Considered to be A major Sector in the Egyptian Economy. It provides the food Supply for Rural Residents in Egypt of Food Security. In Addition Agriculture Contributes to the National[ Economy. For Example, It aboorded about 40% of the Labor Force in 1987. IN the same year, Agriculture Contributed 22% of The Total Domestic Production and 24% of the Egyptian Exports. But The Relative Contribution of Agriculture decreased during 1998 to become 17% of the Domestic Production and 12.1% of the Total Exports in 1998. In Addition Egypt is Puffering A serious Inbalance between the Growing Population and the nearly stable cultivated area. The led to sencere to over come this situation.
Several Polieres and Projects have been employed to develop the Agricultural Sector in order to increase the national food serily and improve the level of living in rural residents. The So-Called Agricultural Modernization project is among them. The Project was employed in the time period 12 September 1995 to 30 June 2001 in the three areas of Kafr El-Sheikh and Asuit Governorates and the Nubaria region. It aimed at transferring relevant technologies in the areas of Agricultural mechanization, water and soil Agricultural industries, and Agricultural marketing through close selation between Agricultural extension and Agricultural research Centers. During the implementation of the projects 21 extension centers were established in Kafr EI-Sheikh governorate and stafled with selected extension workers. Selected extension workers were trained and made responsible of project activities linking farmers with researchers. This study tried to assess the degree to which the Agricultural modernization was effective in Kati- El-Sheikh governorate - this study aimed Specifically at:
1- Identifying the impact of the project on the extension agents in terms of knowledge about than offered technologies, skill in applying transferred technologies, participation in the project activities, and job satisfaction.
2- Identifying the impact of the project on the formers in terms of knowledge about transferred technologies, adoption of transferred technologies during the time span of the project, adoption of transferred technologies later, adoption of the income raising activities, and getting Loans.
3- Identifying the degree to which project effects were evenly distributed among the target population.
