Arabic : تقييم الطرق المستعملة فى قياس سلوك اصناف العدس فى التجارب المقامة فى عدة جهات
Abstract ABSTRACT The disadvantages of traditional approach used in multi-site testing trials, which ranks the lines in order to their yields over sites and then select the highest yielding lines, includes a high bias to high-yielding site on estimates of cultivar means and difficulties of comprehending genetic x environment ( G x E ) interactions when number of entries and/or sites are large. This study aimed to assess the utility of actual yield and relative yield used to identify the best genotype in multi-environment trials of lentil, and also to investigate the efficiency of stability analysis of yield using standard variety mean as environmental index. Using relative yield would give three advantages,: removes the drawback associated with the variance of yield across environments as a stability measure and allows easy comprehension of G x E structure, gives equal weight to each site when calculating variety means and finally relative yield allows easy comparison of different entries tested in different experiments in the same site and year. The use of general response of all genotypes as a measure of environmental effect needs not to be replaced with the standard variety in the regression analysis of stability unless there is a priori basis to the country.
