Arabic : التباين الوراثى وكفاءة التوريث للصفات المحصولية فى العدس
Abstract ABSTRACT The f 3. f 4 and f 5 populations of four lentil ( Lens culinaris medik ) crosses made between five local and exotic genotypes were used in this study genetic variability. Heritability and genetic advance were estimated for each cross per se in f 4 and f 5 generations. Results revealed that genetic variance was existed and significant in the breeding outcome of f5 generation of each cross for most traits studied. Environmental variation was notably high for yield and yield components (pods/plant. Seeds/pod and 100-seed weight) as well as harvest index. Which resulted in relatively moderate to low heritability and genetic gain values estimated for these characters in most cases. On the basis of the relatively high heritability genetic coefficient of variation and expected genetic advance pronounced progress should be expected from selection for earliness in maturity plant height. Pods/plant and seed protein content. While moderate progress should be expected with seed yield per plant.
