English : Immunological studies on pigeons vaccinated with both pigeon paramyxo virus -1 and pigeon pox vaccines using different vaccination programs
Arabic : دراسات مناعية على الحمام المحصن بلقاح فيروس الباراميكسو – 1 وجدري الحمام باستخدام برامج تحصين مختلفة
Abstract Several vaccination programs were applied for pigeon pox (PPV) and pigeon paramyxo-virus vaccines (PPMV-1). Ninety pigeons were divided into six equal groups. Different programs were conducted as time follows : using PPMV – 1 vaccine one time with PP vaccine, kept at -20oC, another with PP vaccine, kept at +4oC, and mixed at the time of vaccination, as well as simultaneous inoculation, beside injecting each of the two vaccines alternatively 10 days before each other. The immune response of vaccinated birds with these programs were evaluated serologically using neutralization test for PP vaccine and haemagglutination inhibition test (HI) for PPMV – 1 as well as challenge test. The obtained results revealed that mixing PPMV vaccine and PP vaccine, kept as +4oC at the moment of inoculation was the program of choice, which permitted their use in one package for field application saving time, money and effort; beside decreasing the stress conducted on pigeons during frequent times of vaccination.
