Abstract |
- Results of titration of serum samples using pHA and CF tests are nearly parall to each other.
- Active immunization in rabbits injected with tetanus toxoid combined with different adjuvant was superior than injection of fluid toxoid alone.
- Oil adjuvant toxoid and aluminium phosphate toxoid both increase the antibody response than the other tested vaccines but the oil vaccine gave higher level of antibodies till the end of the experiments.
- Deae – Dextran and saponin adjuvated toxiods given to rabbits produced an increase in the immune response followed by a drastic fall at the end of the experiments.
- Different methods were used for separation and precipitation of antitoxic globulins from horse hyperimmune sera. Electtrophoretic analysis of globulins precipitated by sodium sulphite method proved to be more or less near to the control ATS (pepsin digested serum) for human use.
- ATS given simultaneously with toxoids interferes with the primary immune response, weakens it but do not destroy it, since the secondary response was as good as expected.
- When the interval between ATS and toxoid was 3,7 or 14 days, the least interference occurs and the primary immune response was adequate to protect the animal against the disease.
- Horses and sheep given combined passive and active immunization at 3 days interval produced immediate protection and the antibody level increased when a second dose of the oil or AlphaT was given 6 – 8 weeks apart.
- Sheep can be vaccinated with either oil or alpha toxoid producing an adequate immune response.
- For horses it is preferable to use Alpha T in animal inoculation (Combined immunization) to avoid severe local reactions.
