Abstract Two field expermintes were conducted at Tag El-Ezz Agric.Res. station ,Dakahlia governorate,during 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons, to study the response of three intercropping systems i.e.2,3 and 4 rows of flax with faba bean to spraying potassien fertilizer leves i.e. 0,1.5 and 3 liter /fed. On growth , yield and yield components of flax cv. Giza 8 and faba bean cv. Sakha 1.A split plot design with four replications was used.The important results could be summarized as follows: 1- Faba bean: It was evident that intercropping systems of flax with faba bean were significantly reduced all studied characters of faba bean except plant height and straw yield/fed..The highest values of no. of branches and pods/plant,seed weight /plant ,100- seed weight .and seed yield/fed.were obtained due to growing faba bean in pure stand ,meanwhile plant height and straw yield /fed. Attained the maximum values under cropping 4 rows of flax with faba bean system in both seasons . The obtained results showed that yield and its components of faba bean crop was increased with fertilizing by spraying potassien at dose of 3 liter/fed.in both seasons. 2- Flax: Intercropping 2 rows of flax with faba bean significantly increased no. of fruit branches and capsules /plant ,stem diameter, seed yield/plant and seed index ,whereas fiber ,straw, seed and biological yields/fed. Attained maximum values when it was grown in pure stand ,meanwhile plant height and technical length were the tallest by four rows cropping system. The statistical analysis for the collected data, showed that yield and its components of flax significantly increased with increasing sprying potassien fertilizer rate up to 3liter/fed. In both seasons. The interaction between intercropping systems and potassien fertilizer doses showed significant effect on,no.of capsules/plant and seed yield/fed. In both seasons and technical length in the second season only . The highest values of LER and gross return were observed when cropping 2 rows of flax (as seeds crop)in both seasons and when cropping 2 and3 rows of flax (as fiber crop) in the first season and second season respectively ,with faba bean and fertilized by spraying potassien at dose of 3 liter/fed. In both seasons . this study showed that cropping 2 rows of flax with faba bean system gave the highest economic return for thr farmers.
