English : EFFECT OF MINERAL AND BIOPHOSPHORUS FERTILIZATION ON PRODUCTIVITY AND QUALITY OF SAHKA 1 AND GIZA 8 FLAX VARIETIES
Arabic : تأثير التسميد بالفوسفور المعدنى والحيوى على إنتاجية ونوعية صنفى الكتان سخا 1 وجيزة 8
Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at Tag El-Aiz Agric. Res. Station during the two successive winter seasons 1998/1999 and 1999/2000 to study the effect of three levels of mineral phosphorus (7.5, 15 and 22.5 kg. P2O5/ faddan) and bio-phosphorus (phosphorin) at the rate of zero, 300 and 600 g./seeds/faddan on the two flax varieties; Sakha 1 and Giza 8 concerning yield, yield components, technological and economical characters. Results could be summarized as follow: 1. The newly flax variety Sakha 1 surpassed Giza 8 in total length, technical length, straw yield/plant as well as per faddan, fiber yield/plant as well as per faddan, no. of fruiting branches/plant, no. of capsules/plant, seed index, seed yield/plant as well as per faddan, fiber length, fiber percentage, fiber fineness, oil percentage and biological yield (straw + seed yields) 2. Phosphorin (bio-phosphorus) application at 600 g./seeds/faddan caused the highest mean values in total length, technical length, straw yield/plant, straw yield per faddan, fiber yield/plant and fiber yield per faddan. In addition to the important seed traits as no. of capsules/plant, seed index, seed yield/plant as well as per faddan, oil yield/faddan and all the six technological and economical characters studied. Application of mineral phosphorus at the level 22.5 kg P2O5/faddan ranked second and followed the phosphorin at 600 g./seeds/faddan in most important traits, but lowest estimates obtained by the control (without any phosphorus application) in all characters under study. Moreover, the mean values of all characters studied were increased with increasing either mineral phosphoerin level from 7.5 up to 22.5 P2O5/faddan or phosphorin from 0 (control) to 600g./seeds/faddan. 3. The estimates of correlation coefficient (r ) were highly significant and positive between straw yield/plant and each of total length, fiber yield/plant and seed yield/plant, also between total length and each of fiber yield/plant and seed yield/plant, the same degree of significance
