Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at Etay El-Baroud Res. Station Farm, Behira Governorate, during 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 seasons to study the effect of three seeding rates (132, 156 and 180 kg/ha.) and four Foliatreen (micronutrient) concentrations (zero, 3600, 4800 and 6000 ppm/ha.) on the growth characters, yield, yield components and quality of Sakha 1 flax variety in addition to the interrelationship between each of straw, seed yields/plant and some related characters. Results indicated the following :- Increasing seeding rates up to 180 kg caused significant increase in plant height, N.A.R., total length, technical length, straw yield/ha., fiber yield/ha., fiber percentage, fiber length, fiber fineness, seed yield/ha., oil yield/ha., as well as oil percentage and iodine value, which did not reach the level of significance. On the other hand, increasing seed rates lead to significant reduction in stem, leaf and root dry weights/plant, R.G.R., C.G.R., leaf area/plant (at the second growth stage), straw yield/plant, upper branching zone length, number of capsules/plant, number of seeds/capsule, as well as per plant, seed yield/plant, stem diameter and seed index, but the reduction did not reach the level of significance for the latter two traits. Increasing Foliatreen concentration from zero to 6000 ppm/ha. caused significant increases for the most studied characters, but these increases were insignificant for root dry weight/plant (at the first and second stages), straw yield/plant and iodine value. On the contrary, there were significant reductions for stem diameter and seed index. The interaction was significant between seeding rates and Foliatreen concentrations for the most growth characters and R.G.R.; but did not reach the level of significance for N.A.R. and C.G.R. Also, the interaction was significant for all yields and yield components, as well as for technological characters, except for stem diameter, straw yield/plant upper branching zone length, number of seeds/capsule and iodine value. There was a significant and negative correlation between straw yield/plant and each of total length and technical length. The interrelationships were insignificant and positive between straw yield/plant and each of stem diameter, fiber length and fiber percentage. Highly significant and positive correlation was detected between seed yield/plant and each of upper branching zone length, number of capsules/plant, number of seeds/capsule and seed index. On the other hand, seed yield/plant was significantly and negatively correlated with oil percentage.
