Abstract |
A replicated field experiment was conducted during 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons at Giza Agric. Res. Station to evaluate seventeen flax genotypes in relation to yield, yield components and technological characters, in addition to throw the light on their variability parameters.
Significant differences were detected among genotypes for characters under study. The promising strain 413/1/3/2 recorded maximum means for biological yield/plant, straw yield/plant, seed yield/plant, total length, technical length, fruit zone length, number of capsules/plant, and fiber length. S. 2419/1/1 surpassed the other genotypes in respect to biological, straw, seed and oil yields per fad. as well as oil percentage. Belinka variety ranked first regarding fiber yield/fad., number of seeds/capsule, fiber percentage and fiber fineness. Giza 8 cv. revealed high magnitude for seed index and Gawhar cv. was the lowest one in most characters.
Phenotypic and genotypic variances exhibited maximum estimates concerning fiber fineness, fiber length, technical length and total length. Heritability estimates were high for all studied characters. Estimates of heritability, genetic variability were high for seed index, seed yield/plant, fiber fineness, fiber length, total length, technical length and biological yield/plant.
