English : EVALUATION OF SOME FLAX GENOTYPES II- SEED YIELD,YIELD COMPONENTS AND OIL PERCENTAGE.

Abstract This investigation was carried out during 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 seasons at three locations namely: EL-Kanater Exp. Sta. Nat. Res. Center, Giza and Ismailia Agricultural Research Stations, Agric. Res. Center to evaluate 14 flax genotypes in relation to seed yield, yield components and oil percentage in addition to estimation of genotype X environment interactions, variance components and correlation for seed yield. The study showed the following important results: 1 - Genotypes mean squares were highly significant for number of fruiting . branches per plant, number of capsules per plant, 1000 – seed weight , seed yield per plant as wall as feddan and oil percentage indicating that genotypes differ in their genetic potential for seed yield and its components. S.2465/1/3 genotype recorded the highest mean values for number of capsules per plant, 1000 seed weight and seed yield per plant as well as per fed . while Alba gave the lowest values for the previous traits. Oil percentage had a wide range from to 35.44% for imported Jitka ( fiber type) to 43.28% for imported Gentiana ( oil type ). 2 - Data indicated that mean squares of (GL) interaction were higher magnitude to those (GL) for seed yield per fed . and oil percentage meaning that it must evaluate the tested genotypes under multilocation . 3 - Phenotypic variance was high in seed yield per fed., number of capsules per plant followed by oil percentage and 1000-seed weight. while genotypic variance was two with regard to seed yield per plant and number of seeds per capsule, but it gave the highest values for seed yield per fed., 1000-seed weight and oil percentage. 4 - The estimates of phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variance were high for 1000-seed weight, seed yield per fed. and oil percentage.Meanwhile, the low estimates observed in number of seeds per capsule and seed yield per plant. Moreover, heritability in broad sense showed high values in most characters under study except number of capsules per plant and number of seeds per capsule. 5 - Seed yield declared highly significant and positive associaitions with each of its two components, number of capsules and 1000-seed weight indicating that miximizing seed yield may by obtained by selecation for these two component variables.
