Abstract |
Two field experiments were carried out Nubaria Agric. Res Station Farm during 2000 and 2001 seasons to study the influence of the various N levels ( zero, 25.50 and 75 kg/fed) on the yield and quality of three jute cultivars. Yield and its components significantly increased by increasing nitrogen level up 50 kg/fed . The highest green stalk and fiber yields were obtained from PADMA cultivar by 9.072 ton and 537.80 kg per fed.respectively, whereas IRC212 gave the maximum yield of seed per fed. .(134.14kg ) . Appling N rate at above of 25kg/fed. decreased fiber percentage, while fiber length trait was increased by increasing N level to 50kg/ fed . PADMA cv . had the best fiber quality in comparison with the two other tested cultivars. The N, P and k content in seed were significantly increased by increasing nitrogen application , while the absorbed amounts of N,P and K by IRC321 cv were significantly higher than other the two tested cultivars.
The polynomial equation and its derivatives are in a good agreement with the economic optimum yield in both jute seed yield and fiber yield. Seed yield responded to N- fertilization up to the rate of 50 kg N/fed , but the economic optimum yield of 127.37 kg/fed was obtained at the optimum economic addition of 27. 678 kgN/fed. While the economic fiber of 598.99 was obtained at the optimum economic addition of 45.192 kg N/fed.
