Abstract Serological characters of some pasteurella multocida field isolates in rabbits revealed that the most predominant capsular antigens reacted with the highest titres of serotypes 8:A (A:3), 2:D, there was cross reaction with other P.multocida antisera. The virulence determinant assayed by the survival of P. multocida local isolates A:3, A:12 and 2:D in the sera of goat , camel, sheep and cattle due to its bacterial polysaccharide that inhibiting phagocytosis. The lethality of the challenging with local isolates in mice vaccinated against rabbit pasteurellosis were 48%, 42%,42% and 38% for 2:D (D:11), 5:A (A:1), 8:A (A:3 and A:12 respectively. The overall mean of antibodies titres against P.multocida type A and D were elevated in the autogenous and commercial vaccines. The protection percent were 92% against type A, 96% and 92% respectively against type D and the least protection % against P.multocida type B. Serotypes A:3, A:12 and D local isolates revealed good immunogenic properties and ability to overcome lethality of wild isolates under field condition.
