Arabic : قوة الهجين، القدرة على التالف وفعل الجين للهجن بين ستة تراكيب وراثية من الفول البلدى
Abstract The present investigation was carried out under insect free cage. A diallel cross-excluding reciprocals-among six parents of faba bean was utilized to estimate different sources of genetic variability and other derived parameters for seed yield and its components. Mean heterosis values of F1 crosses relative to their respective mid and better parents were significantly positive in several crosses for plant height, number of branches, pods and seeds/plant, 100-seed weight and seed yield/plant. Some crosses expressed significantly positive inbreeding depression in F2 and recorded a range of 17.1-25.0, 16.7-17.5, 33.5-53.3 and 37.1 % for plant height, number of branches, pods and seeds/plant, respectively. Dominance effects played an important role in the inheritance of all traits except number of branches/plant and seed yield/plant. H1 estimates were greater than D for all traits, suggesting that non-additive genetic variance is more important than the additive one. Over all degree of dominance (H1/D)1/2 were in most cases in the range of complete dominance or over dominance which suggested that overdominance or epistasis are important in the inheritance of seed yield and its components. The estimates of KD/KR were greater than one for all traits, which indicated an excess of dominant genes in the parents. Narrow sense heritability ranged from 4 % for seed yield/plant to 65 % for 100-seed weight. In general, position of array members on the Wr, Vr graph varied widely among generations. For plant height, number of branches, seeds and seed yield/plant, P3 (X-1001) had most recessive alleles, however, P4 (Sakha 1) appeared to possess most dominant alleles for number of branches, 100-seed weight and seed yield/plant. Misr 1 (P5) had most dominant alleles for number of branches, pods, seeds/plant and 100-seed weight.
