Evaluation of prepared oil adjuvant vaccin for protection against caprine pasteurellosis

| Abstract |
Survey was conducted to establish the incidence of isolation, biochemical identification and serotyping of pasteurella spp. in goats. Two hundreds nasopharyngeal and lung samples were collected from diseased and apparently healthy goats. The highest incidence of P.multocida was 3% and P.haemolytica was 15% during winter and stormy months (April / March).There was no isolation of P.multocida from apparently healthy goats. Most of the isolated pateurellae had the widest range of antibiotics resistance due to antibiotics treatment. P.haemolytica biotype A strains were more sensitive to antibiotics penicillin, chloramphenicol, streptomycin and ampicillin than other pasteurellae serotypes. Twelve goats were divided into 3 groups (4 goats for each), first group vaccinated with combined oil adjuvant , while the second group vaccinated with sodium salicylate extracts, the third group kept as a control. The first two groups were received vaccines in a dose of 2 mi S/C twice one month apart. The potency of the prepared vaccines were evaluated by indirect haemagglutination (IHA) and passive mouse protection tests. The vaccinated goats either with oil adjuvant or sodium salicylate vaccinated group gave rise to highest protection of mice against challenge with P.multocida and P.haemolytica reached up to 82.5% and 78% , while the protection rates of oil adjuvant vaccinated group were 82.5% and 90%, respectively.
