Isolation and identification of pasteuralla species from camels and trials for vaccine production.

| Abstract |
This study was carried out on 84 camel sera, as well as aliquot of 200 lung, liver tissue samples and nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from diseased and apparently normal camels. Samples were collected from different egyptian governorates. serum samples showed 11.9% , 28.5% and 5.41 haboured antibodies against P.multocida capsular types A, B and D, respectively.
The isolated pasteurellae were identified morphologically, biochemical and serologically. The Virulence of these isolates were determined in mice. Ninety boscat rabbits were vaccinated either with combined inactivated formalized vaccine or combined extracts of P.multocida and P.haemolytica local isolates. The prepared vaccines were inoculated twice one month apart in a dose of 1 ml S/C. Safety and potency of the prepared vaccines were evaluated. The humoral immune response of the vaccinated rabbits was evaluated by indirect haemagglutination, ELISA and passive protection test. The group of rabbits vaccinated with combined extracts of pasteurella revealed higher response than the group of rabbits vaccinated with formalized inactivated combined vaccine of P. multocida and P. haemoltica local isolates.
