Abstract The present study was conducted at Department of the Wastes Recycling, Animal Production Research Institute ( APRI). Egypt. The objective was to study the performance of Tilapia as affected by replacing fishmeal by poultry by-product meal at 25,50, 75 and 100% level, and replacing soybean meal by leucaena seeds at levels of 20, 30, 40 and 50% of SBM each alone. Then after, another experiment was carried out to evaluate the economical using of a practical diet in which poultry by-product meal and leucaena seeds replaced fishmeal and soybean meal by 12.5% and 25%, respectively, together, compared with a control diet of tilapia fingerlings. The results showed that increasing leucaena seeds level in the diet tend to increase to crude fiber content but did not affect the nutritive value of the formulated diets. Tilapia fingerlings received poultry by - product meal at 25% of fish meal level and those having leucaena seeds at 50% of SBM recorded the- higher live bodyweight and the best growth rate. In addition, fingerlings of these treatments recorded the best findings of FCR. PER, PPV. EER and the cheapest feed cost to produce unit of fish gain. Using poultry by - product meal and leucaena seeds together to substitute 12.5%, of fish meal and 25%, of SBM, decreased tile cost of feed formulation by 100 L.E / ton than the control diet. Moreover, the feed cost required to produce one kg fish gain was lower than the control diet by 25.57%. Accordingly, the use of poultry by- product meal and leucaena seeds meal together was more efficient and economically better than using each alone in tilapia fish diets.
