Abstract An extensive survey of Theileria annulata infection among cattle and buffaloes in Ismailia and Port-Said Provinces was carried out. The animals were subjected to both clinical and blood films examinations. The general prevalence rate in cattle and buffaloes in both provinces was 27.3%. The distribution of Theileria annulata infection in cattle and buffaloes in different localities of the two provinces was tabulated. The morphological criteria of erythrocytic stages and schizonts were illustrated. Three groups of naturally infected cattle were treated with Berenil- oxytetracycline combination, Imizol and Butalex. Butalex appeared as the most effective drug used followed by Berenil - oxytetracycline combination, while Imizol had no effect.
