Abstract The present study was planned to identify the Acanthocephalan parasitic agents and characterization of the histopathological changes in the digestive tract. 2.35 % of the examined birds were found parasitized with both mature and immature stages of Acanthocephala. They are attached to the mucosal tissues of the digestive tract by their spiny proboscis. The sex of the adult filicollis is clearly distinguishable , they have a globular bulb proboscis armed with many hooks that are arranged radially ( Yamaguti, 1963) or in a star shaped pattern at the apex of the proboscis ( Soulsby, 1968) . The present study was the first record of filicollis species in aquatic birds examined around shores of El Manzala lake in Port Said Province and also new host record as well .
