Effect of environmental factors on the parasitic helminth – biochemical interrelationship in Clarias Lazera in lower Egypt

| Abstract |
On examination of 68 Clarias lazera from Manzala lake (Port Said area) and Barrage area (Cairo) for enteric helminthes parasites during Summer and Winter seasons, 47.3, 20.8, 90.9 and 64.2 % were found infested respectively. Orientocreadium batrachoides (Trematoda), Polynchobothrium clarias (Cestoda), Procamallanus laeviconchus and Paracamallanus cyathopharynx (Nematoda) were identified in both regions of investigation, while the other two trematodes (Telorhynchus arripids and Podocotyle atomon) were obtained from Barrage specimens .
Growth parameters and sarcoplasmic protein fractionation of C. lazera were studied in relation to helminth infestation, sex of fish, locality and season. Season was the main environmental factor that obviously affected the growth parameters where it was more clear in Manzala Lake than that in Barrage area . Significant F – test values were calculated in the body weights of normal and infested fishes in Manzala Lake at both Summer and Winter seasons and for condition factors in both Manzala Lake and the Barrage area . Fractionation of sarcoplasmic protein of C. lazera revealed 9 fractions, one of them (fraction # 4) showed two minor sub fractions . Significant variations were detected in the relative intensity of separated fractions due to the different tested factors, while the significant F- test was declared in fractions # 6 and 8 of fishes collected from Manzala Lake and fraction # 1 in fishes collected from the Barrage area
