Abstract |
This study was conducted to investigale tile possibility of incorporating olive cake as an energy source and cheap alternative feed stuffs instead of yellow com in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) diets at levels of 5. 10 and 15% and its effect on fish productive performance. digestibility coeficient and some parameters. A total number 120 of Nile tilapia fish with an average initial body weight of 2.68g ± 0.12g/fish randomly distributed into 4 experimental treatments three rplicates each. The experimental diets were designed to contain (30.60%CP) and 3339.58 DE kcal/kg) and fed to the fish at 3% of the total biomass. Fish were weighed once every two weeks and the amount of the diet fed was adjusted accordingly through 93 day experimental period and given to the fish at 10 and 15 h. All treatments had no significant effects (P>0.05) on growth perfonnance and feed utilization of fish. The results revealed that up to 10% olive cake no adverse effect were observed on water quality. hcmatocrite. hemoglobin. liver (ALT. AST) and kidney enzymes. Inclusion of olive cake instead of yellow corn up to 15% in Nile tilapia fingerlings diets resulted a better economic efficiency than the control diet.
