Abstract The present investigation was carried out to the effect of sun-dried Azolla pinnata was powder ground and in corporate in the experiment diets at various levels (0,10, 20, 30 and 40% the diets) to replace the plant protein source in the plant protein source in the diets. All experiment diets contained about 32% crude protein and 4500 kcal GE/kg diet. For the growth performance experiment two hundred Cyprinud Carpinud fingerlings (0.52 g/dish ( were fed for 16 weeks on the 5 experiment diets. Another two experiment ten glass aquarium (80 L / aquarium) were used and 20 fingerlings were kept in each. The fish were fed at 3% of their total biomass, and feed amount was divided into 3 equal portions and given to the fish at 9.00, 12.00 and 15.00h. The results showed that, 10% Azolla pinnata meal could be replaced as a source of plant protein in carp diets without apparent harmful effects. Low feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio, protein productive value and energy vitalization were obtained with increasing the percentage of Azolla meal in the diets. Body moisture content, crude protein and ash were increased with increasing Azolla meal, on the other hand the body ether extract and energy content were reduced. No significant (P<0.05) effects were observed of Azolla meal on digestibility coefficient of ether extract and nitrogen free extract. However dry matter digestibility coefficient tended to increase (P<0.05) with increasing Azolla meal level. In contrast, the values of crude protein were negatively correlated (P<0.05) with Azolla level. Based on the obtained results, it could be recommended to incorporate sun dried Azolla pinnata meal in Common carp diet at 20% level as non conventional plant protein source.
