Abstract |
A field experiment was conducted in a silty clay soil at Mit Ghamar, Dakahlia using pea seeds. Photosynthetic pigments of leaves, some morphological parameters and yield components were estimated, also nitrogenase activity of root nodules /plant, available nitrogen in soil after harvesting and N, P, K, Mo, Zn in grain yield were determined. Results revealed that chlorophyll a, b, and carotenoids significantly increased as a result of Rhizobium inoculation and seed coated with Mo or Zn.
Seed coated with Zn or Mo and Inoculation with Rhizobium led to significant increases in stem length, number of leaves plant-1 and number of branches plant-1 at 45 and 70 days after sowing, but the interaction effect of inoculation and Mo or Zn was generally insignificant. Regarding the dry weight of nodules plant-1, number of nodules plant-1 and nitrogenase activity of root nodules, results showed significant increases in response to inoculation and \ or seed coated with Mo or Zn, being Mo was most effective. Yield of seeds significantly increased by about 22, 22, 27 and 41% as a result of Rhizobium inoculation, Zn seed coating, Mo seed coating and both of inoculation and Mo seed coating, respectively. Also, yield components significantly increased by inoculation and Mo or Zn applied as seed coating.
N, P, K%, Zinc (ppm) and Mo (ppm) of pea seeds were increased by inoculation and coating of pea seeds with Mo or Zn
