Abstract |
A total of 32 Bauscat doe rabbits and 10 bucks. Doe rabbits were distributed into 4 equal groups. The 1st group was control, the 2nd group injected at mating and before kindling with 1 IU of oxytocin hormone, the 3rd group injected with 2 ml of Cal-D-Mag at 14 days of pregnancy and 3 days after parturition, finally the 4th group treated as group 2 and 3 together. The objectives of this work were to study the effect of oxytocin and Cal-D-Mag injection on some physiological changes pre and post partum in doe rabbits under Egyptian conditions. In general, results showed that treated groups were significantly higher in progesterone and prolactin hormones. Also, treatment enhanced significantly CR, LSB, LSW, LWB, LWW, MBWM and PWM%. While, there was no significant differences due to treatment in the other measurements. LSB, LWB, LSW and LWW significantly increased with advance of parity. On contrary, SB% significantly decreased with advance of parity. Also, CR was significantly higher in the 2nd parity than the other two parities. Differences in the other measurements due to parity was not significant. Pregnancy stage has a significant effect on P4, E2, TP, GLB and TL concentrations. While differences in PRL, AL, Ca and Ph due to pregnancy stage were not significant. Lactation stage has a significant effect on P4, E2, PRL, TP, GLB and TL concentrations. While differences in AL, Ca and Ph due to lactation stage were not significant.
