Abstract |
Three housing models were evaluated to decide which one is more efficient in environmental thermoregulation for the welfare of rabbits under seasonal environmental fluctuations. Both physiological reactions and biological performance of does, bucks and offspring were studied as a judgement of the efficiency of each model. It is evident from results that double iron sheets roof accommodate an ideal house for raising rabbits than the other two models. Single iron sheet roof induced greater rise in internal air temperature than that inside the other two models (concrete and double iron sheets roofs), it also induced a great range between max. and min. temperature within the day during the seasons of the year. The double iron sheets roof had a significant effect on the environmental conditions inside the 2nd model which were within the comfort zone of rabbits during the day and all seasons of the year including the hot seasons. The 2nd model accommodate suitable environmental conditions, which proved the ability of rabbits to reproduce during hot conditions if we establish proper housing.
