Abstract The present research is an attempt to develop two scales for attitudes measuring of recommended new wheat seed variety utilization among farmers. To achieve this purpose two scale methods were used to measure: first, farmers' direct attitudes guided by Likert–type of scale; second farmers' indirect attitudes guided by Wesckler-type of scale. To test its validity and reliability of the scales, data were collected from a systematic random sample amounted to 70 wheat farmers in Shoney village, Tanta district, the Gharbia governorate during January 2001. Regarding the guidance of Likert -type of scale, findings reveal in its final shape that it consists of 14 statements where demonstrated a high degree of validity and reliability, when reliability coefficient showed 0.809. In addition, the scale face validity result was high utilizing 13 Juries, the intrinsic validity result showed 0.899 , findings also reveal that the logical validity result of the scale showed also a high degree. Findings also revealed regarding the guidance of Wesklar-type of scale in its final shape, that it consists of 12 statements where demonstrated enough degree of validity and reliability, which the reliability coefficient showed 0.733. Results also revealed that the intrinsic validity result was high which showed 0.856. On this regard, the logical validity results were also high. More over, test findings show that the interal Consistency was achievement, and a high degree of the ability discrimination as well as the homogeneity availability between the two parts of the scale, Likert and Wesklar were also achieved. Finally, the research shows that there is no correlation occurred using both scales, regarding the selected farmer's attitudes towards the new wheat varieties. Therefore, the study recommends the utilization of both scale when there is a need to study farmers' attitudes, where each of them is a completion indicator for each other.
