English : Developing a scale for measuring organizational values of the agricultural extension managers in Egypt
Arabic : تطوير مقياس للقيم التنظيمية لدى القائمين على العمل الإرشادى الزراعى فى مصر
Abstract The main objective of this research was to test validity and reliability of "Francis-Woodcock" scale related to measuring organizational values. An Arabic translated copy of the scale was used and some modifications for the components phrasing were made. This rephrasing was necessary as a way to fit the scale components to both the Egyptian culture and the nature of the agricultural extension system as an educational organization in the first priority. The scale was composed of four essential propositions. Every one of them was branched three minor proposition. Every minor proposition have one organizational value to express its meaning. So, the scale was composed of twelve organizational values: directors have to direct, elites are always on top, achievement is on top, doing the correct things. doing things in right ways. there is nothing free, whoever takes care of all his subordinate's interests will succeed, working together in harmony, justice must dominate. know your enemy, staying for the best. and whoever dares will succeed. Each value was measured with five items. Therefore, the scale included 60 items. Five items were used in measuring each phrase with five ranked degrees (0, 1, 2. 3, 4). The study was conducted on a sample of 203 agricultural extension employees working in the Central Administration for Agricultural Extension, Gharbia Governorate, Sharkia Governorate, Menia Governorate and Sohag Governorate. The Drawn Sample represented about 10 % of the total population amounted to (2005) agricultural extension employees. Measuring of internal consistancy revealed that all of the statements were correlated significantly with the total instrument and the total of its components. The same thing was among the scale components which confirmed in it's validity to compound the scale itself. The study findings revealed high validity and reliability of the scale. The scale alpha reliability coefficient of "Cronbach" was 0.96, with validity coefficient of {J.98. Similar results were obtained by using Spearman-Brown equation with alpha coefficient 0.97 and validity coefficient 0.98. In addition, validity coefficient was 0.99 when Brown equation was used. Depending upon the validity and reliability results, the scale was considered a reliable and valid instrument to be used to measure organizational values of Agricultural Extension Managers in Egypt.
