Arabic : دراسة مقارنة للتعامل مع المخلفات الزراعية وغير المزرعية المتواجدة لدى الريفيات ببعض قرى الوجهين القبلى والبحرى
Abstract This study was carried out with the aim at identifying the different kinds and the relative importance of farm and non-farm residuals available to rural women in some villages in Upper and Lower Egypt, studying the differences between them related to group of studied variables, determining the applied methods and needs to utilize these residuals, as well as studying the compacts between the ranks of these methods and needs for the two groups of rural women in Upper and lower Egypt. Also the study aimed at studying the differences between rural women's opinions in Upper and lower Egypt related to the existance of problems caused by the residuals, identifying these problems and their relative importance. Date were collected in February and March 2000 by questionnaire from 200 random sample of rural women from 8 villages in four governorates; Menia, Beni - Suief, 13ehayra and Daqhalyia. Numbers, frequancies, ranks; percentages, Chi square and goodman and kruskals coefficient were used to analyze these data. 1-The study revealed the following results: There were many kinds of farm and non-farm residuals available to rural women in Upper and Lower Egypt, reached to 27 residuals in tipper Egypt and 28 residuals in lower Egypt. The relative importance of these residuals in Upper Egypt was differed from that was found in lower Egypt. 2-Residuals were available in ugh rates with higher percentage of rural women in lower Egypt in comparison with the percentage of rural women in Upper Egypt. There were significant differences between them at 0.05 level. 3-The level of utilization of available residuals were low for the majority of rural women in Upper and Lower Egypt. There were no significant difference, between them at 0.05 level. 4-High percentage of rural women in Upper Egypt expressed that their returns from utilizing their residuals were low, while the majority of rural women in lower Egypt expressed that their returns were whether medium or high. There were sip-Meant differences between them at 0.01 level, 5-The knowledge level of the environmental statutes was high for high percentage of rural women in Upper Egypt in comparison with the percentage of rural women in Lower Egypt. There were significant differences between them at 0.01 level. 6-The exposure level to the environmental information resources was low for the majority of rural women in Upper Egypt in comparison with rural women in Lower Egypt. There were significant differences between them at 0.01 level. 7-The interest level in the cleanness of the local environment was high for higher percentage of rural women in Lower Egypt in comparion with the percentage of rural women in Upper Egypt. There were significant differences between them at 0.01 level. 8-There were many methods used by both rural women in Upper and lower Egypt to utilize farm and non-farm residuals. The compact between ranks of the methods used to utilize farm residuals was high, while it was over medium for the methods used to utilize non-farm residuals. The coefficient of ordinal association between the ranks reached to 0.72 and 0.58 respectively. 9-There were many needs required for both rural women in Upper and lower Egypt to rationalize (heir usage of residuals The compact between the ranks of these needs was less than the medium, where the coefficient of ordinal association between the ranks reached to 0.34. 10-There were significant differences at 0.1 level between rural women's opinions in Upper and lower Egypt concerning the existence of problems caused by residuals. 11-There were many problems caused by farm and non-farm residuals for both rural women in Upper and lower Egypt. Diffusion of the rates and diseases in the villages come in the front of these problems for the two groups of rural women.
