Arabic : دور جمعية تنمية المجتمع فى تخطيط وتنفيذ المشروعات التنموية فى ثلاثة قرى مصرية
Abstract Community development society is considered as one of social organization directed by an elected board work toward achieving its community main development objectives. It represents the acme of people's participation in developing their community in accordance with their vision and felt and unfelt needs. Participation in these societies is voluntary under the supervision of The Egyptian Ministry of Social Affairs. The ministry provides these societies with technical and material support. The study objectives can be summarized as follows: (1) to identify the role of community developing society in planning and implementing community development projects; (2) to identify the impact of some independent variables on the role definition of the society; (3) to distinguish variables which explain variances in society roles; and finally (4) to suggest recommendations to policy-makers. A random sample of 180 respondents were selected from three villages (60 respondents each). These villages are : Sliabrawisli - Dakahlia Governorate, Mit-Rahina - Giza Governorate, and Serbo - Beni-Suef Governorate. Twenty six questionnaire were omitted for missing data, and the final analysis based on 154 questionnaire. Frequencies, arithmetic mean, percentage, standard deviation, mode, Simple correlation coefficient, and step-wise multi-regression were used in analyzing data by applying SPSS package. The main finding show the following: -There is a significant relationship (at 0.95 level) between the type of work and role of planning, role of implementation , and project size variables. At 0.01 level the analysis show the following result : - There is a significant relationship between the respondent's educational level and both of implementation role and project size variables. - There is a significant relationship between the mean educational status of the respondent's family and implementation role variable. - There is a significant relationship between housing modernity and both of the implementation role, and project size variables. - and finally There is a significant relationship between degree of satisfaction, and degree of participation with the three dependent variables. By using step-wise multiple regression analysis of the data show the following : 19% of the variance in the planning role is explained by both satisfaction and participation degree together; 35% of the variance in implementation role is explained by participation degree, satisfaction degree, and housing modernity together; and 64% of the project size activity is explained by satisfaction degree, and housing modernity together; Respondents suggest that activation of citizen participation, increasing public awareness, and held meetings are effective means to increase the efficiency of community development society in developmental projects.
