English : The role of agricultural extension agents regarding agricultural machinery diffusion and use at some districts in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate

Abstract This study aims to identify the role of agricultural Extension agents (AEA) regarding Agric. Machinery diffusion and utility, and to determine the relationship between each of the' Agric. Machinery availability and the Agric. machinery utility and the degree of machinery diffusion and utilization. The study was conducted in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate by selecting all AEA in three districts from the Governorate. Respondents were interviewed using a pre-tested questionnaire. Percentages, weighted means and chi square test (X2) were used to analyze data statistically. The main results of the study revealed that: Performance Level of AFA regarding some extension activities of Agric. machinery diffusion was shown to be low including farmers training to maintain machinery, using demonstration and providing Farmers bulletins in this field. Significant relation was found between the availability degree of machinery and its utilization degree. The main problems of utilizing Agric. machinery from AEA point of view were; - Time of machines availability. - Nigh machinery rental costs. - Variation of crop patterns within the studied area - Land holding fragmentation.
