Abstract A factorial design experiment 3 x 3 was carried out including three levels of protein (17, 19 and 2 I % respectiveJy during the starter period and changed to 15, 17 and 19 during the finisher period) and three levels of total sulfer amino acid (0.74, 0.93 and 1. 12% during the starter period and 0.67, 0.83 and 1.00% during the finisher period) in the winter season in Egypt where the ambient temperature ranged between 9 and 160 ºC. A total number of 378 unsexed one week old Hubbard chicks were used in this experiment. Chicks were randomly distributed into 9 treatment groups (3 replicate each). Chicks in all treatments were equal in number and have nearly similar initial body weights. Results obtained indicated that: 1- Step up the crude protein level (17 to 21 % during the starter period and 15 to 19% during the finisher period) in broiler chick diets . resulted significant (P <0.05 & P<0.01) improvement on all growth performance traits studied. 2- Body weight at 6 weeks of age and weight gain during I -6 weeks of age were significantly (P<0.01) improved for birds fed diet containing 0.74% and 0.67% TSAA when compared with the other levels. 3- Responses to TSAA levels for feed intake and feed conversion were not significant during all the experimentaJ periods. 4- All growth performance traits studied were significantly (P<0.05 & P<0.01) affected by interaction between dietary protein and TSAA levels during all experimental periods except live body weight at 3 weeks of age, body weight gain I -3 weeks of age and feed conversion ratio during 3-6 weeks of age. 5- Chicks fed. the diet contained 2.1% CP with 0.74% TSAA during the starter penod and 19% CP wIth 0.67% TSAA during the finisher period recorded the best EE and the least fed cost /kg during 1-3 and 1-6 weeks of age.
