Characterization of the monthly reproductive performance of sinai Gabali rabbit does using New Zealand white rabbit as a reference breed

| Abstract |
A total of seventy five does and fifteen bucks of Sinai Gabali rabbit and thirty does and eight bucks of New Zealand White rabbit were used in this study to characterize the monthly reproductive performance of Sinai Gabali rabbit during the year. The Sinal Gabali rabbit does had 6.8±0.18 litter size at birth with 380.4±0.23 gm weight, the litter size at weaning was 5.3±0.24 with 2232.1±101.88 gm weight. The gestation period length was 31.5±0.12 day. The conception rate was 57.3±7.22% during the year months.
Also the pre weaning mortality reached 58.9±3.66%. Sinai Gabali bunny weight at weaning was 463.97±25.859 gm.
The mature weight for Sinai rabbit was 3.7 3±0.380 kg. The conception rate for the Gabali does was high (P<0.05) in spring and early summer months (May, June and July) and reduced in the mild months (from October to February).
In April the pre-weaning mortality rate was the highest (P<0.05), which was 84.4±7.00%. However, February recorded the lowest (P<0.05) pre weaning mortality rate (42.6±15.98) for the Gabafi rabbit February, March, April and December recorded the highest (P<0.05) litter size at weaning for Gabali rabbit, which was 5.9±0.96, 6.3±0.96, 6.0±0.50 and 5.9±0.99 in the respective months. May and August recorded the lowest (P<0.05) litter size at weaning (4.3±0.36 and 3.3±1.86) in the respective months. The litter weight at weaning in Gabali rabbit fluctuated during the year months from 1386.7±175.00 gm in August to 2715.0±304.09 gm in December.
