Abstract A total of 480 Silver Montazah and Matrouh pullets were randomly divided into 3 groups in each strain (4 replicate in each) and housed in laying houses with ample open yards. From 22 to 51 weeks of age all the birds fed on the basal diet contained 16.070/0 crude protein and 2752 k.cal.ME/kg. At 52 weeks of age 15 hens from each replicate were selected fore force molting methods. The first group were fed on the basal diet supplemented with 2000 ppm of zinc as zinc oxide for 7 days. The second group were fed on a diet containing < 500 mg/kg. sodium for 49 days. The third group of hens was fasted for 10 days with water provided ad libitum, then hens were received ad libitum crushed yellow com for 21 day. Results obtained could be summarized as follows: Matrouh hens showed the best significant values of nutritional parameters (feed intake-protein efficiency ratio), egg quality traits (shell weight, percentage and thickness) and hatching results (fertility and hatchability percentage form total eggs set) than that of Silver Montazah hens, while the Silver Montazah hen showed the significant higher values of egg production traits (egg weight, egg number/hen/period, hen-day egg production percentage and egg mass) than that of Matrouh ones. The fasting methods of force molting showed the best significant values of the previous studied traits than that of high zinc or low sodium methods.
