Extensionist perception of economic and social activities of rural youth development in El-Behira governorate, Egypt

| Abstract |
This study was desinged to determine:
(a) Extensionist' Knowledge degree of economic and social activities related to farm rural youth development and its degree.
(b)The relationship between this Knowledge and some independent personal variables.
Data were collected from a sample of 125 agricultural extension agents in El-Behira governorate, the enunciation survey percentage, average, chi-square and contingency coefficient Were used in data statistical analysis.
The results showed that : 1)The majority of extensionists have a moderately Knowledge of all economic and social activities related to rural youth development.
2) The average Knowledge degree of (5) five of the econmicah activities was good and can he arranged in :r descending order as follows:
(a) encouraging rural youth to adopt the new recommendations.
(b) informing rural youth with high and quick generating income activities.
(c) educating rural youth how to establish successful small agricultural
enterprises.
(d) diffusion of economic awareness between rural youth.
(e) informing rural youth with agricultural and economic organization and their beniftits.
3 )Results indicated that the average knowledge degree fin. (6) six of the social activities was good and can be arranged in a descinding order as follows:
(a) informing rural youth about the importance of participation in programmes of local environmental service.
(h) informing rural youth with the necessity of participation in solution of villages problems .
(c) informing rural youth with the necessity of cooperation among them
(d) informing rural youth towards the necessity of social participation in all what happen in rural community.
(e) helping rural youth to know rural problems .
(f) informing rural youth with social organization and illustrating shier benefits.
4) A significant relationships on 0.01 was found between studied personal variables of extensionists and their knowledge degree of economic and social activities except for one relation with social factors which was the academic specialization at the 0.05 level of significance.
The study recomended that the training program prepared for interviewing agricultural extension agents should include subjects related to economic or social activities having an average knowledge degree mounting to (9) activities as refered in this study, All agents having low or no knowledge in all the (20) twenty economic and social activities shown in the study should he trained upon these activities for enabling than in performing their role in rural youth development .
