This study was aiming at:
1. Determining the knowledge change level of rural women for food and nutrition recommendations.
2. Determining the difference between knowledge degree of rural women for these recommendations before and after their exposure to experimental cassette tape directly.
3 Determining important variables affecting the knowledge change degree of rural women.
Data were collected by personal interviews from a random sample amounted to 100 rural women in rive villages at Giza, 4ualubiah and Gharbiya Governorates. The study used before and after measurement for the same group in immediate span by using experimental cassette tape which contained the recommendations of buying, preparing and cooking food. "Z" test, simple correlation coefficient, and step-wise multiple correlation and regression analysis were used for data analysis, beside tabulation, frequencies and percentage.
The results of the study were as follows :
1. The knowledge change level of rural women was moderate for all the recommendations of buying, preparing and cooking foods. The average of their knowledge change degree was 19.72 with percentage 49.3% from the maximum degree of knowledge change.
2. The knowledge change level for 40 recommendations of buying, preparing and cooking foods was high for 16 recommendation, while it was moderate for 10 recommendations, and it was low for 14 recommendations.
3. There pat significant difference between knowledge degree of respondent rural women before and after their exposure to cassette tape regarding food and nutrition recommendations.
4. There were significant relationship between the knowledge change level for respondent rural women related to food and nutrition recommendations and L1 independent variables, the most important of them were: changing attitude, respondents years of formal education, exposure to mass media, and frequency of urban tones visits. These above 4 independent variables explained about 70% of knowledge change degrees of rural women.
This study recommended female extension workers to depend mainly upon using cassette tapes to disseminate recommendations among rural women. They also should select their trainees from rural women who have more education, high desire for change, more exposure to sass media, high contact with urban societies.
