The extention knowledge needs of sugarbeet farmers in Kafr El-Sheik governorate

| Abstract |
The main objective of this research was to study the ex¬tention knowledge needs for sugarbeet farmers in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate. Random sample of 135 farmers were involved by personal interviews using a pretested questionnaire.
The results of this study revealed that the knowledge needs level of respondents were.
1. High for the extention recommendations related to control the sugarbeet diseases (damping-off, root-rot ,powdery mil-dew and leaf spot (cercospora) diseases), control sugarbeet in-sects (such as , beet fly and sugarbeet beetle), rapid transport of sugarbeet to factory, fertilization ( nitrogen arid potassium ) and number of irrigations. There were significant differences at 1.3 and 2.0 degree with high percentages ranging between 65 - 100 %, respectively.
2. Moderate for time and method of thinning, hoeing, control of aphids, green cotton leafworm , cotton leafworm, jassids and amount of seed / feddan The significant differences ranged be¬tween 0.64 and 1.19 degree with moderate percentage ranging between 32 and 59.3 %, respectively ,
3. Low for planting dates, method of planting, suitable soil, thin¬ning, beet weevil preparation of sugarbeet field, time of harvest¬ing and the ditantance between each holes and ridges. The sig¬nificant differences ranged between 0.09 an 0.58 degree with low percentage ranging between 4.5 and 29.0%, respectively.
