Abstract This study aimed to achieve some goals- They are pre-paring a scale for job satisfaction for agricultural extension agents consists of fourteen dimensions, assessing the de¬gree of job satisfaction for agricultural extension agents for each item and for each dimension, finally assessing the rela¬tionship between each dimension and the total degree of job satisfaction and how much does each one participates in explaining job satisfaction. The data were collected by personal interview from 101 agricultural extension agents who are working in Quttor district in El-Gharbia governorate and in Muttopis district in Kafr EI-Sheikh governorate. The scale consists of 66 items in 14 dimensions which are: salary and incentives, promotion opportunities, rules, supervision, cooperation with colleagues, interaction with farmers, material conditions of work, achievement, agricul¬tural cooperatives, agricultural research institutions, agri¬cultural education, status, societal appreciation and job en¬joyment. The percentages, mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, simple correlation and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Concerning levels of job satisfaction for the items, the data showed that the level of job satisfaction was low for fifteen items, the mean for each was less than three degrees, Those items were concentrated under the dimensions of salary and incentives, promotion opportunities. rules, mate¬rial conditions of work, agricultural research institutions and agricultural education. On the other hand, the level of job satisfaction was high for six items, the mean for which was more than four degrees. Those items were concentrat¬ed under the dimensions of supervision, cooperation with colleagues and job enjoyment. For the remaining forty-five items the level of job satisfaction was moderate. It was be¬tween three and four degrees for each. Concerning the level of job satisfaction for the dimen¬sions, the results showed that there is variation in the levels of satisfaction between the dimensions. It was high for cooperation with colleagues, societal appreciation, job en¬joyment, supervision and status. But, it was moderate for ag¬ricultural cooperatives, achievement, interaction with farm¬ers, rules and agricultural research institutions. And it was low for agricultural education, material conditions of work, promotion opportunities and salary and incentives. Concerning the relation between each dimension and the total degree of Job satisfaction, the results showed that there was highly significant relationship between each di¬mension and the total degrees of job satisfaction. Partial re¬gression coefficient for each dimension was highly signifi¬cant which means that it participates in explaining job satisfaction, Also, all the dimensions combined explain the variation in job satisfaction. Some recommendations were formulated in view of the results.
